Early Childhood Teacher Corps (ECTC) impact in the 24-25 service term year have contributed 4040 hours of service across Southeast Louisiana fulfilling a critical role in expanding access to quality early care and education empowering school readiness in Louisiana through 16 AmeriCorps members serving as teacher assistants in 15 state-licensed Type III ECE programs.

Who we are

The Early Childhood Teacher Corps (ECTC), an AmeriCorps program operating under For Providers By Providers, mobilizes individuals interested in service opportunities to revive and strengthen early childhood environments for Louisiana’s youngest youth ages 0-5 years.

Individuals serving in the Early Childhood Teacher Corps (ECTC) program as ECTC members, enhance the quality and impact of early childhood programs in Louisiana. The program focuses on improving school readiness outcomes and addressing the need for more prepared early childhood teachers.

ECTC members have the opportunity to serve as half-time term of 900 hours or reduced half-time term of 650 hours in an early childhood classroom beginning each September. Members will implement language, literacy, and math activities to increase school readiness outcomes and provide classroom support to lead teachers.

Members will serve alongside exemplary lead teachers with opportunities to develop as leaders and gain skills for future employment success. AmeriCorps members will receive significant training, coaching, and hands-on experience toward a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. The Early Childhood Teacher Corps provides the tools needed to help AmeriCorps members build careers in the early learning profession as Lead Teachers as well as prevent future academic and developmental delays for young children.

AmeriCorps members will receive the following benefits:

  • A Living Allowance of $12,600 for Half Time members or $9,450 for Reduced-Half Time members

  • Emergency Transportation Assistance (per approval)

  • Member Assistance Program: which includes Mental Health and Work/Life Support Services

  • Segal Education Award- $3697.50 Half Time Member

  • Paid Training Time, CDA Curriculum, and Supportive Targeted Coaching to earn Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

  • Meaningful experience working with 0-5 year old children
